I rarely post here but I love to read a lot of the posts here... Especially the good "How-To" stuff. Anyways, I'm working on a 51 Lincoln for a customer that was damaged in a tornado that came through in Apr '10. While it is here the owner wants me to make a pair or flush skirts for it. Just wondering if anyone had a good How-To on it. I found this in the archives. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62058 I like the way these are done but they aren't flush. I also found a pair of flush skirts on eBay but they are fibergl***. Anyone had experience with them? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Justin "CornDog"
Just speculating here..........but IRRC, the wheel opening flanges on Lincolns & Mercs from that period have a kind of 'rounded' contour. It would seem to me they would need to be more 'squared', i.e. a flatter surface around the wheel opening flange to properly fit a flush skirt. Ray
If you are on Face book Check out Rob Radcliffe profile. He has done a set for a 1951 Mercury, same as what you need. LINK
