Looking nice... I went with a '49. Has suicide doors and the vent has been removed. No windows. Speedway universal power window actuator came with it. In my uneducated thinking way I thought no worries. Just pop the track in, have a custom window cut and viola... to my surprise when I opened up the door the window channels are gone. Internal bracing has been applied for the suicide doors. Overwhelmed and not sure what to do I reached out to a local shop (Raleigh/Durham area in NC) for some ***istance. 6800.00 quote later I'm rethinking everything...
There's always a way, put window on 2 long pins and put matching receptacles in the doors and drop them in like side curtains and store them in the trunk. But I just put the VW quarter windows, pivots and VW regulators in on spacers to the inner door sheet metal works fine, the VW Convertible front windows and regulators fit a 4 dr merc as well, I used Ford Currier truck wind wings and cut them down. you will need a small removable post like all convertible sedans have to close the gap between front and rear windows where the factory door post is/was cut down to make a convertible. VW Convertible windows are expensive now and hard to find, go to VW junk yard and scrounge them up.
