Hello looking for info would like to see some 51 Mercury with a 4 inch drop any problems with going that low i front or back running the flat head mercury mtr. Was looking at the fatman 2.5 up right and a eaton 1.5 drop coil spring is that to low ?????? Thanks any input welcome .
Aerostar springs. Cost around $75 Homemade 2 inch blocks. plus a couple students weighing it down $100 drop so far
Too low to be practical. I have a 3 inch drop on my 50 Mercury and even that gives me troubles sometimes.
Aerostar springs and 3" blocks in the bag. Start there. If you go any lower in the back you may want to put a set of casters on it for the steep driveways.
My 51 Mercury has 4” lowering leaf springs from Jamco in the rear with 4” lowering blocks. Up front I have Aerostar springs. I run 7.10 - 15 tires in the front and 6.70 - 15 tires in the rear. Flathead V8. I drive this car everywhere and it drives fantastic.
I agree with the comments above. Perfect stance for a '51 Merc static drop. Thanks for sharing the details. .
I have the same setup on my ‘50 , outfitted with jamco suspension front and rear. Lowered springs in the back with 2” blocks. Front is the 3” lowered springs with 1” dropped spindles. Only problem I really have is gettin in and out of my driveway!!
Aerostar or cut 2 coils will drop the front 4 in. 4 in blocks in back and remove a couple of rear spring leafs.
I did 4” blocks on the back of my 49, huge difference. I haven’t had a chance to do the front yet to level it out. But so far I haven’t had any issues with getting into my sorta steep driveway
