Well.. this happened this weekend.. Chopolds sprayed some color on my rims.. I really will hate to cover these up with hubcaps..
Guess I should mention that the brake lines are now all plumbed, not a fan of doing brake lines, but it’s done, need to mess with the alternator bracket some more, got some hoses on order that hopefully will fit, then it’s button up a few things and hopefully get to hear it run soon. Going to bring the tires to the shop on Saturday so they can be mounted next week. Then back on the ground, get dash in mount the heater and then hopefully finish off the nose.. still not 100% on the grille yet but have a couple ideas.. after seeing the wheels it is so hard having to wait to get it painted, but with everything that’s gon on the last 6 months or so it can’t be helped.. but I man I can’t wait!!
Some pics of my coupe at Customs by Flash today.. Got the tires mounted and balanced on the Diamondbacks, I think the wheels came out great! Hoses are all on, shifter mounted, wiring is almost done for the engine.. only a few things left before it can be fired up..
Looking great Tony! You're closing in on the finish (start-up) line. I'm impressed with all the work and custom touches, you're doing it right!
Thanks! Best thing I coulda done was take it to Chopolds shop, Customs by Flash. Can’t say enough how great this experience with him has been. When ever I’m not sure of something, he has the answers and he has truly made my vision come to life.
Time to update! So Chopolds has been busy on my coupe.. I’ve been trying to get the floors ready for por15 and insulation while he been wiring everything up. This past week he had me cut out the door latches from an older caprice he had at the shop then he got them in my coupe along with the actuators from Balls rod and Kustoms. Now with a click on the remote the doors pop open.. little bit more finishing to do on them but it’s a step closer to getting in the road!
Another update! This past weekend was something I’ve been waiting for now for the past year.. getting the merc surround installed! Can’t wait to see it finished up! You can see Mark (Chopolds) trimming the surround and starting to get the fitment.. can’t wait!!
On a side note.. recently my wife was recently diagnosed with heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.. she responding well to the medication and all but eventually down the road she will be needing a heart and lung transplant..one of the drawbacks to it is the heart really wears her out so I decided to no longer plan to run the tripower set up, and instead go with a new heat and ac unit I got from Shoebox Central. Her comfort and company is important to me so I’m kinda veering off the 100% traditional route.. but hey Kustoms keep the hoods down! So all good! Anyway Chris from Shoebox Central has been awesome with getting the AC stuff figured out as well as finding a chrome heater cover to fit over the front of the AC unit or hide it some! Can’t thank him enough!
Some more updates on my coupe. Chopolds got my window garnish all painted, and I put down a layer of Kilmat on the floor and firewall. Car seems like it’s really starting to come together
Guys at the shop sent me some progress pics since I had to work this weekend. @chopolds had my grille pieces stripped then tacked up. I had an idea I wanted to try out. A traditional style grille with a little twist. I’m pretty happy how it’s turning out. Can’t wait to get it finished and plated!
I'm liking that. Retro, Light and Clean. Looking at it my Mind goes direct to turn signals. What to do that fit's the rest of everything done so far? Pretty sure what I would do, or at least tape in place and see how they fit everything. What are your plans?
I’ve a friend that has some 50s corvette marker lights I was thinking of taking a look at. Other then that I’m still looking.. open to suggestions!
I thought with the Merc top surround 49 Merc signal lenses might fit in nice. The Bezels might be a little big but just the lenses cut in mounted from the back could do the job. At that point I probably would change the way the Grill Opening is now by continuing the radius of the top corner into the front valance but not all the way across to duplicate the top of the opening. Ya, I know more work but then it would totally house the ends of the Grill. That bottom squared off ending of the surround stands out a little too much at this time. Everything else is a smooth blend what with the rounded hood corners and all. That's just me, don't take that as s knock at all. Just a different eye.
Check out '51 Ford turn signals. Round with the same cool lines through them. I set a pair in the spinner/bullet of my '51 grill, looked good
