nice so much harder when you do everything yourself and it turns-out and not too many people even try. i have a few friends in your area Broadalbin, Mayfield, Jonestown from when i use to race.

Ok, winter made its arrival last nite! the temp is now 13 deg's out and the ground is covered in snow, along w/ the roads being covered w/ salt. I lucked out and got the '51 gassed up and put away yesterday just in time! heres some last min pics before for the winter hibernation. jeff

Wow. I started reading the thread wondering where you were going with this build, and really enjoyed your work. You did a great job on the car and documenting all the work. What a blast it will driving it his next year when the roads clear up. Enjoy!
Have read every post from the beginning of this thread and for whatever reason have not commented 'til now. Let me correct that error and tell you what a fantastic job you have done; you have single-handed built one beautiful car that you deserve to be very proud of. I just found this build, there is nothing on this car that i dont like,,,a major plus you did it your self and pretty quick too, question, how do the seats feel with the old springs and the new memory foam,,, i hope to see this car some place in person,,,
The memory foam compress's a lot so I ended up only using that for the seat backs. For the bottom of the front bench I went to the fabric store and bought a denser foam which worked out great. All together id say the seats feel great, very couch like One other thing I did to the seat bottom was I zip tied the rows of wavy springs together. Ill have to look for a pic if you wanted one, but I just picked a pattern and skipped maybe every other wave then zipp tied it to the row next to it. jeff
That is one sweet build. You have fantastic talent sir and you certainly put it to good use. Not afraid to tackle the hard to do. Don't know if you know Jack Belknap at County Line Auctions but if you do or you go to his auction tell him Steve from British Columbia says Hi. That may get him telling you some stories. I worked for him for years and we traveled the roads a lot together. He owns the old Rose Pontiac Buick building in Johnstown- Gloversville.
the springs are nothing more than really long wavy wires. Individually, they don't give much support and flex easily. Buy tying them together really seemed to give the base some support. Stock, they used a sheet of burlap w/ stiffer wires threaded thru it, and that helped to spread the "load". I looked thru my pics, but I cant find one of the seat bottom. jeff
