I think I've got a couple at home. I've got my old one and another one in Yellow that was kind of street roddy g***erish.

In the late 60's, there was a local guy that ran a '54 in the AHRA hot rod cl***. Had a small-inch (352 or 360) FE motor with 427 heads, a big cam, and a top-loader Ford four speed. He bought parts from my Dad's dealership. The guy was very crafty, and always looking for that next demon tweak to make his car quicker. I think he held a national record for a while. Looked like an old granny car: plain white paint, no fancy wheels, as I recall he made his own fibergl*** grille and bumper using the stock stuff to make a mold. I remember seeing run at Lions, and it went like hell. Sorry, I just have the memories, no pics.

No pix here, either - sorry. And that's exactly why I've been obsessed with the idea for over 40 years: Nobody else is doing it...
I really had it bad for the Thunderbolts when they ruled, but couldn't afford such a new car. So I envisioned a '53 tudor (since I had one) with an axle, radiused wheelwells (or maybe not), no front bumper, etc - all the traditional 60s era drag car elements (generically refered to as "G***ers" today). Same deal as the photo UncleScooby posted (love it - thank you!). At the time, I was thinking of running a 312/3-speed, 'cause that was the hot set-up then, Ford-wise, but today...oh man.....
I always prefered something a little "different, but still tastey" and those cars fit the bill. I say do it now, before it looks like you jumped on the bandwagon, because as the supply of mainstream tin dries up, this sort of thing is getting hotter every day. I've been busy with more projects than I need and doubt that I'll ever get around to doing the early 50s Ford thing, so I'm throwing out there...
