52-53 Buick side trim worth??$$

Ok fellas I have a buddy who is parting out a 52 Buick 2 door hard top and was wondering what the side trim is worth? A guy here in town wants it for a 49 Merc project and he is dead set on getting it. Problem is we have no idea what it is worth, anyone have an idea? Thanks for the help!

 

I wouldn't hit him too hard on it. Realistically, if this guy didn't want it... would you even be able to sell it at all? Would it bring anything at a swap meet? It might be a good time for a trade. Is this trim worth a carb? An intake? What do you guys need? Maybe thats how you should price it.

Is there any old Buick salvage yards out there? What do they charge for this stuff?

The trim is the same check mark style trim everyone puts on the Mercs. Customs have been using it for 50 some years and yes it is as rare as hens teeth. Go on the ****bay and you will see none. So, anyone else have any ideas?

 

Personally, I wouldn't give over a couple hundred but it depends on how bad the guy wants it. It is very sellable though. Not much help I know....

 

Most yards charge about 8-10 bucks a foot. Doesnt matter if its dented or not.

If it is rare, then it costs more. A guy I know just sold 60 Falcon trim for 600 for all of it. Thats not so hard to find.

That side trim is worth big bucks. If you put it on ebay and start it at 1.00 it will almost instantly jump to $300-$400. All the Merc guys want the 52-53 Buick side trim. You will have guys lining up to buy it. I know I can get at least $500 for it here on the east coast.

I paid $500 for a complete set of 53 Buick Riverera side trim in very nice condition 5 years ago.No dents or dings and nice and shiney.

 

At KKOA Gettysburg a few months back, I saw no less than 4 sets for sale. Its a small swap area, but of course its all catered to customs. Most were $300-400 in decent shape.

Damn, I have a set off a '53 4dr - missing one piece, because it had been screwed onto the car on one end and wouldn't pop off. I need to sell it I guess.

$500 is probably fair for a full set if it's nice - no dents and in need of minor polishing at worst. I've sold pieces of trim for various cars for as much as close to $400 for just the two bars on the quarter for one side - good straight stainless is tough to find.

 

400 bones is what I saw some going for at the last show I saw. Needed cleaned and polished too.

****BAY.... yup I sold enough **** there last year to build a nice HOT ROD. decided to pay rent instead.

use a reserve if you go with ebay. I would hate to start something like that at 50 bucks only to find out only one guy happpened to be looking for it that week.

There is a set of this trim on e-Bay right now. Currently, it's between $200 and $300. A friend told me that at the James Dean Car Show, he had seen this trim list for $1500 per side. Seems excessive to me. There is a set on The H.A.M.B. Marketplace right now, listed for $1200.
I need some, and hope I don't have to pay that much.

 

I have a set for sale from off of my 51 Merc. the trim is off of a 53 buick.
