It appears that the front brace is available but only the ends of the remaining 4 braces. has anybody tried these pieces, especially the front or 1st brace? They are available for 55-56 but not for 52-54.
Replacing the ends works well as generally this is the only part of the brace which is rusted. A whole lot cheaper and easier than replacing the whole brace which is really a job to do when replacing the floors or when the body is on a rotisserie . Regards
Glad to hear the EMS is looking into the brace issue. i've got the body on a rotisserie now and am just getting my courage up to replace the floor pans and braces. My braces are too far gone to just need the ends. By the looks of the pictures that the suppliers have, it wouldn't be too hard to make the ends.
used floor pans and end braces from macs for my 53 ford sedan was not impressed with quality. looked as if made by some one in there back yard. the stiffener ribs in floor pans did not line up at all were 1" or more off. the braces were worse.
I took another look at the floor in my wagon last nite and I think it would be easier to make the floor pans myself rather than pay money for pieces that don't fit anyway. The braces may be another story but, the end pieces that are advertised don't look that complicated either. I'll have to get the braces done before the floor is replaced anyway.
merc did you make the whole brace or the ends? I'm sure that it will also take me lots of time to make these pieces, even just the ends.
i just made the ends, still took longer then i thought, definitely will buy em next time around. also, i didnt have much to go by so they are not 100% correct but good enuff.
On my Crown, I had to replace mine about 6 inches farther in than the ends. I just welded them on, ground them down and made it work. The ends are the hardest to shape, the rest is easy.. I also did it without taking the body off. In retrospect, a dumb idea. It probably would have been easier and quicker just to lift the body. I also replaced inner and outer rockers, and both front floor sections. A royal pain in the ***!
