I am new to 50's chevys and I recently acquired a project 52 Fleetline Deluxe. The car is missing several pieces including the front and rear bumpers. I am looking for replacement bumpers and recently saw an ad for 49-50 chevy car bumpers. Does anybody know if these would be the same as the 52 fleetline Deluxe bumpers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Mark
All '49-'52 bumpers are the same as far as bolt pattern for the back bars. Some are drilled for different center bolts, license plate bumpers, or the '49 guard. They come in 3 piece riveted and 1 piece California & Canadian production. There's repops being sold that are scary sheet metal things. If you're good at hunting used parts, the used ones that haven't rusted are still shiny. Let's see that fastback ....
Thanks for the info. The ones I saw for sale were the 3 piece bumpers. I need to take some pictures of the car and post them. Thanks again. -Mark
There are aftermarket bumpers that have been available for years for the 49-54 Chevrolet. More "flatter" than the stock ones and somewhat ribbed the entire length, lengthwise; they do look nice. There's an ad on E-Bay for a 4 door Chevrolet fleetline; car has a complete wooden, almost an antique boat-like appearance inside. Pics are taken at the airplane mounted above the roof of a coffee shop in Kansas City, Mo.. I'd do a link, but I don't want to learn how, I spend enough time on-line as it is, and I'd then be posting everything I possibly could. The guy used a 56 Ford front bumper mounted upside down on the rear of the Fleetline, it's a good look. Maybe someone could do a link and blow everyone away. The item number is 232266905019, and no, I have nothing to do with the car. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
