i have a 1952 chevy deluxe. i put in an sbc engine and automatic transmission, with an open drive shaft, along with an s-10 rear end. now, i didnt know anything about building a hotrod when i put this car together, so i might as well have been on a deserted island coming up with my own way to do EVERYTHING. so my s-10 rear end is sitting on leaf springs meant for a torque tube for 3 years, and about 7k miles, and im wondering if eventualy im going to break something. do i need toque arms, or different leaf springs or am i ok? ps, the rear end is real low.
I pretty much did the same thing..but i bought new leaf springs. and i made my own lowering blocks out of square tube and spread the load out over a larger area of the spring and made nice large spring pads with rounded and radiused corners so they would not dig into the new springs.. i would keep an eye on it..see if you have any leaves cracking..if you have the habit of getting on it hard alot..you may get some spring twist at the axle ..take a good look at it..if you dont like what you see buy new springs..and if you can go wider. when you say "real low"..you should look and see if you have scrub line issues..not a good thing for you or anyone around you if you blow a tire at 60 mph
here look at this..note..the U bolts were cut after installation so no scrub line issues if you need better pictures..PM me
