Hey fellas, I'm lookin for 52 headlight rings for a side project. If anyone has any that they can spare, please let me know. Thanks! Rocky
'53 FoMoCo and '54 Mercury are the same units. in 1954 ford went to pot metal on their cars, and some weird set up on lincolns.
Aren't 52 and 53 ford the same? 54 has that little peak on either side of the headlight to match the body line.
52-53 Interchange or go this route:http://www.butchscoolstuff.com/store/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=44 Don't forget Butch's gives a HAMB discount if you call in the order be sure to tell them you are a Group member.
If nobody minds, I'd like to use this thread to get clear about a couple of variations. 1952-54 Ford and Merc all look pretty much the same, but the '54 Ford rings have a little forward slant to the front edge and the crease on the side. Are all of the others the same shape? Also, I know that at some point they started using die cast rather than stamped parts. Are those only the '54 Fords again, or were there others?
I don't know much about the mercs, but I thought the 52-54 mercs were all the same and not pot metal? And the 52-53 fords are the same. Rocky
'52-'54 Mercury are stamped steel and are the same. '52-'53 Ford are also stamped steel and are the same for those two years. '54 Ford is die cast pot metal and is different than '52-'53 as '54 has a peak at each side to match the body lines. Alan S. Freeman
I thought I answered the question in my post? The only pot metal bezels are 1954 ford and Lincoln. The rest are all the same part: inside and out.
52/54 Mercs are round,, Fords have a bit of a peak,, I believe the inner rings are the same but some are chrome (generally pitted beyond use) others are SS. I didn't know the 54's were potmetal. I think I may have one Ford outter ring.
I do have one complete ring but the lower half is pitted through. I also have one outter ring with good steel in it, but I was going to try and make a Merc out of it and cut a small section out of the peak. They are both yours for shipping
