Hi, my name's Jimmy, I'm from Green Bay WI and I'm new to the HAMB..I recently bought a '52 Mercury Custom from another forum member, and my hood popped up on the highway a week or so ago...anyhow, I posted in the main forum asking if anybody knew what some replacement options would be. I'm not a big fan of the factory scoop, and I'd like to get rid of it if I could figure out how. I found a couple pictures of 52's-53's without the scoop...I'm just wondering what these guys used as a replacement, or if these hoods are just heavily customized Merc hoods...

I understand the Ford hoods are too short to work on a Merc, but someone had mentioned that certain 52-53 Lincoln hoods (maybe Capri?) would work on my car?? If the Capri hood could be made to work, that would be pretty slick, I just don't have one around to measure or to compare the Merc hood to...Anyhow, if anyone here has any insight or information I'd really appreciate it...thanks in advance!!

Welcome to the social group Jimmy. I don't have any information that will help you out but I'm sure there are several people here that will have an answer for you.

I'm pretty sure that all 52-54 lincoln hoods should work, as they have the same length dog house, and I'm ***uming the same inner fender structure. I can't say for sure without a book of part numbers, but it should be a safe bet.

Good to know the doghouse measures the same..I've had trouble getting any dimensional information on these cars...do you happen to know of a good resource for said book of part numbers? Maybe if someone had the book they could answer more definitively? I'd definitely like to try it, I just don't wanna buy a Lincoln hood, have it freighted, and then not be able to use it...any advice?

Does anyone out there happen to have a '52-'54 Lincoln hood they could pull some measurements off of for me??
