I bought a 52 Olds dash that I am trying to strip down before retrofitting into my 37 Olds. Kudos to BigDave on a great deal! Anyway...

I have everything stripped off of the dash, but I'm having trouble getting the light switch, ingnition, etc. out of the dash. It is not obvious from the back how these things come off, and all of them look different. I'm thinking that they may be held on from the front. Is there a special tool to remove these?

  2. Headlight switch on GM usually has a ****on on the back, you press the ****on and the knob comes out, then there's an insert that screws into the front.

Ignition, you need to remove the lock cylinder by turning the key to the right and inserting a pin in the hole in the face to unlock it and it pulls out. Then the outer bezel unscrews. Other knobs are likely held on with a set screw.

Got em all out. Each one a little different. Thanks for the info on the light switch. Wouldn't have figured that one out.
