Seems like a monthly thing I try to track down this 1952 Studebaker Champion my Grandpa built before he died in 2011. I've since lost tabs on the car being sold out of Oregon. Looking to contact the owner..maybe they are on here or somebody has seen the car around town.. Thanks!
Get on the Studebaker Forum and post your picture Somebody there may know something about the car you are looking for.
You may not have the VIN but you have a plate number (and hopefully the year) that was registered to the car. That should pull up the car and the info will give you the VIN of that car. Then you search the VIN for a current registration on the car. You would most likely end up owing someone more than a couple drinks or a nice dinner for the time and effort put in to tracking it down, but it can be done.
The state should still have a record of the registration for the plates that were on it, and that would give you the vin number. LEO can run the V IN for a current registration. If you left the car abandoned somewhere with the plates on it, they could find out who owned it then and if you did something wrong by leaving it, charge you or fine you. It may take the person with access to that data a little work to get it, but it is still out there. The VIN should pop a hit regardless of what state it is registered in now. But again the trick is to find someone willing to do the leg work for you.
