I know there is one somewhere near M5 Industries (Mythbusters), I am guessing somewhere in Alameda. the Mythbusters go there a lot to get Aerospace stuff for myths.

I think they go out to Mojave for that. No airplane junkyards I can think of in the Bay Area. The Mythbusters are all over the place to do stuff. Their favorite place to blow stuff up is about 15 minutes from my house. (Carson Hill Rock/Brad Sutton trucking between Angels Camp & Sonora, CA) My buddy drives truck for Sutton & I've talked to the Calaveras County Bomb Squad on some incidents & they say they're actually some really cool people to work with.

You have to go to the other "Sonora" for that stuff...

There used to be a place years ago near San Jose? "Global Aircraft Surplus International Unlimited" or some similar theatrical sounding name. Never did go out there - seems like it's gone now...

That is California Airframe Parts, Inc.
    72 98th Ave Oakland, CA 94603-1002

It is about 2 miles from my shop, and very, very cool.

The full-size jet stuff comes from the yard in the Mojave.

There are a couple in Texas, several in Ohio and more than you can count in Florida.

Nothin OT about old airplane parts and hot rods. Also check in boat salvage yards. Masts/spars are airfoil shaped aluminum tubing! Lots of neat steering wheels, gauges, and stainless dodads on old boats.

On the edge of El Mirage, there was one, known as "Aviation Warehouse".................I know, 'cause I worked there part time, while I was stationed at George A F B, '88-90.

The (then area code), and number: 619 388 4215.......................Weird the **** you remember...................The owners name was Mark Thompson, and I am not sure he is still kickin'......................I would guesstimate, better than 30+ acres of stuff!!!!

That should be California enough for ya'.........................Someone sound off, that's familiar with that area, and let me know if it's still there.

The area code is now 760, Mark Thompson is still kicking and has the largest (I think) aviation literature selection in the US. Pretty big place and a good selection. I don't know if he offers a "tour" but worth a call....
