Anybody try rebuilding your own lever shocks? 500 bucks for 4 shocks isn't cool to me...mine just leak their oil all over the floor, but seem to work great for the 1 day they hold oil. I'm thinking that replacing a couple of seals would put me bucks ahead, but this is the mentality that usually puts me bucks behind.
I'm also curious about this. I've heard it's VERY difficult and can even be pretty dangerous. But if someone has done this, I would like to hear about it. I have some NOS ones that have been sitting for a long time (obviously) and I'm concerned they may need it being that they have been exercised.
I have a 55 and know the drill here. I ran a piece of angle iron across the top and welded 5/8 bolts to the lower contol arm thngies and put modern shocks on it. They didn't work so hot, but there is still some fine tuning to do. Good luck
Jyrki has done it. It looks pretty involved. Here's a link to his documentation... http://gamma.nic.fi/%7Emarlin/february2003.html
That looks like it sucks pretty bad. Thanks for the link...I can see a lever shock imbedded in my garage wall if I try it. Thanks for the link Scott...
