I love the originality of your truck. Mine was too far gone to stay that way.

Axle showed up today, of course not until 4. Almost had a heart attack waiting for it. I will do the rear blocks in the am. So stoked on how the front turned out. 4 inch dropped axle from Sid/55mercury , and 2 leafs removed. Bilsteins through Elpolacko/Industrial Ch***is Inc. Started up no problem after sitting for a few weeks. So happy with how the truck is looking!

Truck is back together. Rewired the lights and engine compartment. Somethin is wrong, brake lights arent working and high beams turn the lights off. Got to figure that out. 4 inch dropped axle and reworked steering from Sid (droppedaxles.com) aka 55mercury and Bilsteins all around from Steve (industrialch***is.com) aka ELpolAcko. Both these guys were friendly and easy to talk to, did what they said they would. I couldnt ask for anything more. Truck turned out great. 2 leafs out the front. None out the rear.

A couple pics of truck out and about. The Lowering has really made the truck look clean. But something I am loving almost as much is having the manual choke cable hooked up. Does anyone know how to replace the cable on the stock choke knob?

Krylon WWW update. They definitely crack and chip with use. I think they still look good. The cracks look like part of the tire, but the chips are pretty obvious. Still Love the Krylon Method. I do recommend for budget minded people, or people who have some good blackwalls and arent looking to buy new tires yet. When I get new tires I will buy WWW's. I love this truck.

  12. Love your Truck! It looks great. Did you remove the chrome from the hubcaps before you painted them. Looks very nice.

    Thanks Klaus

The hubcaps had a couple layers of paint on them the top coat being silver paint and the red letters . I wire wheeled them, primered, and painted. Im pretty sure the chrome was under it all, they looked like they could have polished them when I had them stripped down. I really think the Black with the white lettering turned out great, and really makes the truck look clean.

I bought a turn signal switch and of course was not stoked with it. So I painted it, and took the ugly red knob off the hazard pull. The other day I went shooting and came back with some metal bullet casings, and now I have a new hazard pull. Cut the case down, tacked case to bolt, primed and painted. then did it again, no cut down, tacked threads to casing. done. Im liking it, even kinda matches the original knobs Tell me what you think!!! I vote for Sweeet!

I will probably do the same, I can not believe that the switch mech is all plastic, and how half the "metal case is like metal spray on plastic,. When I opened it, I was not thrilled at all. Im gonna look into kelly's right now.

Ya for $20 or so it was all plastic. It was named their "heavy duty" model. Wonder what the non heavy duty was like

I believe if you look you'll discover that something like 80-90% of the late47-early55 Chevy/GM trucks were painted what I always knew as Forest Service Green. Any other color was done by fleet order or special individual order.

My 53 was originally Juniper green. That is the light green you see sometimes. I think they all had that sheen gray interior.

Here it is , the last pic of the truck with the Liftgate, and first with original tailgate. I need to finish mounting ,cleaning and painting, but yeah I am loving it. I have one of the mounting brackets, either get another, or just fab some up. I saw on a website some weld on ones for 75 bucks. Figurin it will cost me about $4 in metal. More in gas to get to the metal shop. So we will see how that turns out. Hmm I may have something around here I can cut up and use......
