AS MOST KNOW... 1953 the last year chevy made a coupe, and they only made 5000 club coupes... here's mine,... it's ajoy to drive... and super rare to find.. any more out there... post a pic... View attachment 6262825 View attachment 6262826
Shorter roof, longer decklid. Small rear window as well, although a 150 sedan also had a smaller rear window than a 210 or BelAir.
most people I come across don't know the difference between a coupe and a sedan,,, tilll I show them, and most say the same thing... " I didn't know that"
correct... and the club came from the factory with a rear seat and sliding rear windows.... where as the business coupe didn't have a rear seat...and I think the rear windows were fixed... could be wrong there as a lot of people added rear seats to the business coupe...
unless it was a 1953 club coupe...so pretty rare combo...1954's were all sedans...long top short trunk...
pretty sure...not saying positive but , the 150 was a 2 door sedan with the short trunk and long top.business coupe and club shared the same short roof..
Great looking car you have there of a seldom seen model. Just curious, did the coupe only come in the 150/210 models or were there any Bel Airs?
to me they have a way more cool looking body... but again... most don't know what they are looking at...
bel airs were sedans....but, I put my hockey cup on so ready.... the problem is like 58's every one calls them impalas... no matter what model it is...and lot of people call 2 door sedans coupes... they never made a 1955 coupe... though there are a lot that say they have one... they are 2 door sedans... same with 1932 ford.. you can call your 1930 ford a deuce coupe if you want... but thats not what it is
though historians claim that there were no coupes after 1953... it's my belief that the 1964 corvette was a coupe.. but also heard it was a sports car... but... anyway.... the short roof 1953 is a pretty rare car... and those that look at this thread will now know when they see one... again... any one here have one???
Someone needs to go back in time and tell Chevy that they didn't make any coupes after 53, because they sure think they did.
Ive seen thaat and i've seen the org. one from chevy.... that one came from a repop parts company... but to save further arguing about the sign post.... lets omit the last year part and go forward with the differance between a 1953 sedan and a coupe..... OK
in 1953, chevy made a model with a short roof and longer trunk..called it a coupe,.. anyone have one....
Almost went on a road trip to look at one to buy to replace the 53 210 I had. Wouldn’t have been the same though.
not sure what you mean by that, I have the original 1959 Chevy parts book, it shows the same thing, although it goes up to 59 models, which also have a Sport Coupe. As to the difference...yeah, you'll notice the 53 coupe has the same trunk lid as the sedan, but there's an extra half foot between the window and the front of the trunk lid. Same thing on the 55 Sport Coupe. And the 59 Impala. It didn't end in 53. So yeah, we can talk about the differences between sedans and coupes. Mostly it's to do with a shorter roof.
But if you pretend that hardtops never existed, then yeah, 53 was the last Chevy coupe. With a B pillar. They look great from a 3/4 front angle. Not so great from the side
