according to my Hollander interchange book the 53 Coupe has the same deck lid as a hardtop and conv. while the 2 dr and 4dr sedans are different
To the OP, thanks for posting the thread, I never knew such a car existed. I would take one look at your car and call it a sedan since it has a B pillar, but since the factory calls it a coupe, so it is... I definitely dig your car and yes, the wheels appear to be bigger than they are. Another fun fact, Dodge made a roadster in 49.
There are a lot of cars that are called things some may not agree with. As posted there are multiple definitions of what a coupe is. That doesn’t make someone using one of the other definitions wrong. Deuces are not strictly 32s. Nova IIs are definitely referred to as a deuce. And like every other definition there are different definitions for the same term. And if your name was Ryan and you owned the site, you could post a site acceptable definition for any of the terms discussed. That wouldn’t delete the other definitions, but it would make one definition site correct and then you could correct someone when they use one of the other definitions. The information shared in threads like this is good. The only I’m right attitude should be checked at the door.
you're talking new generation.. shoe box is the name givin to the 49-51 ford...new generations added 55 chevy.... 55 chevy wasn't even born yet..... Deuce was the name givin to the 1932 ford coupe... again , nova ll wasn't there... BAD was the word to describe not good..... but evolution changed that... so yes maybe im old school and not with the times...but... my generation never went to school and shot up every one... my generation knew to be in at supper time.. where we sat and talked about the day.... my generation talked to others with respect... and my generation didn't have mistakes on their birth certificate so call your chevy ll a deuce if you want... so if you say that cars a deuce....and it's not a 1932... what else might it be?
"Deuce" is used to describe the Ford model year of 1932 (referring to the 2). You could say "deuce pickup"... However, it is not a term that is exclusive to that thing only. The word derives from the French word for two, which is "DEUX", so can quite rightly be used in description of anything relating to '2' or being paired. You would obviously have heard of it being used in relation to the '2' side of a die. Does it sort of make sense now with regard to the Chevy II...?
The nova II is H.A.M.B. friendly and was out by 65. If you google Chevy deuce I bet you’ll find a whole lot of Nova IIs. Just because someone else was called Glenn before I was born doesn’t mean I’m not Glenn. Get over yourself. I’m not saying you are always wrong. What I am saying is that you aren’t always correct. In this case it is obvious to everyone but you that you are not 100% correct. And since you are wrong, we all understand if you aren’t going to post again. Oh wait, that was just another example of you being wrong. And that was about you and you had 100% control over the correctness of that statement.
Settle down.... my pics got deleted, and I said i wouldn't post them again.... you my friend need anger management .... I'm wrong most of the time and admit it.... you should not come at someone the way you do.... what ever I do...right or wrong does not excuse you for not being polite
any way... here's MY deuce coupe, it has 2 wing windows...and it's what the thread is about... not kicking me in my deuce nuts...
this was just try'n to throw some humor out there.. but there are so many not in control of their emotions, while they scream at me....lol I did just go drop a deuce... but when I looked there was only one..... is it still a deuce???
also learned this today, never knew this car was made.....1953 "SPORT" coupe shares the same short roof and long trunk....cool car... lets lower it with a little rake to the front...
This arguing about a deuce is like the deuce I just dropped in the lavatory. What do you think Manfred Mann's Earth Band was talking about here ? "Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night"
To complicate things further, there was a time when Chevrolet referred to their four door hardtops as "sport sedans".
as you dig in to the 1953 chevy models, there seems to be ones that drift into there own category away from the norm... your post is so spot on to the norm.... most seasoned hotrodders talk the cars in the same language... easy to understand... with just a glance a two door with no post is a hardtop, while the same cars is known as a 2 door post.... so with out the car there it was this easy..." I bought a 53 chevy today"...is it a hard top?... "no its a post"....and both knew what they were saying... now throw the 53 in again and it doesn't stop there... "is it a coupe or sedan?.. it's a coupe! ,wow... where did you find that, I've only seen sedans... most of the auto makers stayed with the easy definition ..coupe... 2 door sedan... and 4 door sedan...roadster, convertible and phaeton.... but, myself, @ 71... for some reason, I have a tight grip on the past, and wanna finish my days there... every one seems to be on an electric train to the way out there future... I finally got a flip phone... but don't turn it on unless I need to call someone...
