There's really not a lot of difference between the GM coupes and two door sedans. "Shoebox" Fords are different; I have '51 club coupe and wouldn't even consider owning one of those out of proportion tudor sedans with their ugly faux quarter windows. The only cure for them is a good chop.
Yep it is a Chevy II Nova. Still called a deuce. But sometimes when you are trying not to type what you want to say you move things around. My bad.
Ok, back to 53 coupe. I have 2. Both are 150's. One is a 150 BUISNESS coupe which has NO back seat. The other is a 150 CLUB coupe which does have a back seat. 20 years ago I had a 210 CLUB coupe that had a back seat and single strip body side moldings that were standard on the 210 sedans, AND the small rear side windows slid back approx 3". The 150 coupe rear windows were stationary. I've had hardtops and sedans as well. 53 & 54 are my favorites! Think I've had 8 over the years. The COUPE is my choice of body style. It was the last year of the small side window and large trunk. The coupe trunk lid fits hardtops and convertibles as well. In 54, I think there was a "coupe" but it was a sedan body, stationary side sedan size window and no back seat.
LOL, your Wheaties a little salty??? here's your post, just to remind you... "To the OP, thanks for posting the thread, I never knew such a car existed. I would take one look at your car and call it a sedan since it has a B pillar, but since the factory calls it a coupe, so it is... I definitely dig your car and yes, the wheels appear to be bigger than they are." Another fun fact, Dodge made a roadster in 49. my reply was to the fact that you post that one look and my car would be a sedan because of the B pillar.... my reply was to the fact that a 32 5 window coupe also so has B pillar, and also was called a coupe way before the 53..
Me too. 1967, I was 15-3/4. Bought a near mint 1953 Chevy Bel-Air 2 dr. Ht. for $25 and drove it through my junior year of high school. Bought it off my girlfriend's older brother, who had just replaced it (it was his Grandma's car) with a 'hot 57 Chevy convert. He had gotten a couple speeding tickets with the 57 and needed some quick $. Funny thing is I only had $20, so I had to give him 5 silver dollars from my coin collection. My Dad WAS PISSED that I had gone and bought a car without him checking it out first...but after he looked it over good (it had only 28,000 original miles), he thought I was a pretty smart kid after all.
hotrodjack. Any chance it still exists? In 53 & 54 Chevrolet produced over 170,000 mostly Bel Air 2 door hardtops. How come they're so dam hard to find? My first car in 62 was a 53 Bel Air Hardtop.
Nah, Wheaties suck even with sugar... It`s all good, we were on a different page. Enjoy your 53 Chevy 5 window post coupe and I`ll enjoy my 52 Dodge 3 window coupe.
LOL. No, I sold it in the beginning senior year, to my auto shop teacher for $1.00...for helping me (after hours) with the trans mount, clutch linkage and some wiring on my "senior year ride". ('48 Chevy 283/3spd.).
