hey all i'm redoin my chevy it has the stock front clip (it will be changed out eventually) how low can i get it without screwing things up? i am new to this and am doing all the work myself. i understand cutting coils, but is there a better way ta go? i would like to bag the whole car when money permits (so not for awhile!) i appreciate any input, i am not a fabricator so heavy cutting or welding is outta my league. thanks andy
You can bag the stock frontend, but if your not a cutter and a welder like you said this option is out. Best bet would be to contact Alex Gambino and get a set of fatman dropped uprights to lower it and if that still isnt low enough for you, cut one maybe 2 rounds out the coils. Cuttin more than 2 rounds of coils will make it ride like **** on ****!! dropped uprights lower the car without sacrificing the ride comfort
dropped uprights and 1 coil. beyond that you need to decide how ****py of a ride you want in order to look cool. I'm pretty sure I had one coil cut on my last 49 sedan. it wasn't too bad until you hit a good bump. ch***is engineering makes a bolt in mustang II. which would be worlds ahaead of the cut coil deal for both ride quality and lowness. not sure if you can bag them without fabrication skills. check the catalog. I know a guy that bagged a 53 with the stock suspension. I pulled up to his shop in my cut coil 49 and parked next to the 53, I asked him to drop it.. I wanted to see how low it was. he told me it was down all the way and it was like 1/2" lower than my 49. rustypipes ^^^ car is way low with bagged stock suspension. not sure where my buddy went wrong
