Hello folks.... I've got a 53' Chevy truck with a 235 and three on the tree. I did a SID'S 4" dropped axle up front with a new spring pack and a couple of leaves removed. In the rear I just removed some leaves and put in SIDS 3" lowering blocks. I want to go with an 18" (18"x8.00) wheel up front and a 20" (20"x?)in the rear. Is this possible? If so, how wide can I go in the rear? It's a shop truck so I was kinda hoping to keep the bed original size. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
not to upset you but my best advice would be don't put 18's or 20's on it. to answer your question 8 inch wide is going to be about as wide as you can go. 8 inch up front will be to much.
I kept the original bolt pattern and now I realize my wheel options are pretty limited. Rookie mistake I guess.... So, are you saying I can't do those size wheels? Will they rub? I wanted to do wide whites but the cost was crazy and I need to drive this thing thru mud puddles and such.
Do you have power steering? If not 8 inch wheels in the front are going to be a bear to steer at slow speeds
I'd advise rethinking your wheel choices, or finding a website that is more suited to a non traditional build style. Nothing wrong with what you want, but you're not gonna get much info here.
Thanks badshifter... I thought since I was keeping everything else original I might be in the right spot, but I will look elsewhere. Thanks for the heads up.....
I was thinking of a wheel set-up and stance like this. Wasn't going to throw spinners and a boom box in it. It just seems that the wide whites wouldn't wear well under normal driving conditions. Thanks for the advice
I have a 53 that I drive everyday and I run p235/70r15's on the back which are 9.25 inches wide. That's about as wide as your gonna be able to run without a bit of work.
