Here's a couple pics of my 53 as she sits today. After I bought it last year I did the flat black red wheels thing and got sick of it really fast. So I bought new tires, shot the body with DP40 epoxy primer, shot more silver flake on the roof, had the grille and bumpers rechromed, and painted the wheels shiny black. I think it looks much better now. I want it to look like it belongs to a young kid circa 1962. Any comments or suggestions are welcome. I'm just totally stoked to be driving it again. Interior is next. Then this fall Lukester is gonna chop it for me.
That's a bad**** ride. Love the new color scheme, everyone has flat black with red stealies. Don't get me wrong flat black and red look great it's just good to see something different. Looks great.
Looks Good! I am working on the drive train of my 53 right now, can't wait to get her driving .... I'd like to hear more about your chop! Out of curiosity what did it cost you to do the chrome? hunter
Thanks for all the positive comments. I wasn't sure how people would like the new look. I love it, but I'm a freak. Just glad to have the "Schmidtbox" out on the road again. I gotta get some miles on it before BTT50's. It a long ride up there. DETONATORS CC

Hey man that looks really good. I like it a lot better now. It's come a long way since you bought it last summer. Cool.
Looks slick in grey ,what plans have you got for the chop??slanted pillar, curved,no pillar?? I think the '53 and '54 don't need a lot of mods. The body is a damb fine shape from the factory.
That photoshop pic looks killer. THANKS! The plan for the chop is straight pillars. That's gonna be a job for Luke. I'm no metalworker. Thanks again for all the positive responses. DETONATORS CC WisconSIN
I like this online chopping, the welds come out real nice. Do you need a special program to do it? I'm a computer dummie.
Man O Man - there is a real soft soft in my heart for those '53s... My Dad had one before I was born, anmost finished it too.. His uncles were up playing poker all night at my Grandparents house; the next morning mt Dad wakes up and my uncle Babe still wants some action do he starts playing pool (my grandparents had this Massive house in Lakeside, Ca with a pool table in the family room, the house burned in the SD fires)... Long story short, my dad racks up about $300 in winnings and it turns out that Babe is broke; but he has this car... '53 Chevy 2 door. My dad was really close to getting it done, he had the******* in the trunk. My mom was about to pop and talked my Dad into trading the '53 for a '41 Willies. I was almost born in the Willies! I wish that I has pix of all the cool***** that my dad had over the years.
I'm pretty sure it's done with Adobe Photoshop 7.0. If it were only that easy and fast in real life. DETONATORS CC WisconSIN
