Thats it. When you guys were talking about it I thought the red would look better, would give it some contrast, but the white looks PERFECT!

"Thriftmaster" was the Chevrolet marketing term. Thrift means inexpensive, or not expensive, or not spending a lot of money. People who are "thrifty" don't like to spend money. The idea was that you could buy the Chevrolet trucks and they were inexpensive to buy and operate because they didn't use as much gas and did not need a lot of repairs. In other words, the "master of thrift."

That's why I suggested a new name that sounds similar but was more fitting for the truck's new image.

  7. Nice job!Must be difficult hot rodding north american cars in Italy,at least the truck was almost rust free when you started.

  11. Looking great Frank. What ever happened with the steering? I don't see anything in the pictures.

Thanks, well, :) the significance of "thriftmaster" is exactly the opposite of what I'm doing :). With my project I became master of the spending spree, other than "master of thrift" :D.

Many thanks for the important information

:) I'm waiting to choose the steering column, to the steering wheel I think I've already decided. I will stay on the classical style. Painted column and 15" '54 repro Chevy steering wheel.

    Thanks 65standard

  21. I think that we all agree that the white emblem ties it together very well. keep up the great work its looking soo beautiful! I see a sticker on the fire wall, what about a hamb tag? just a little joke. Cannot wait to see what you do with the inside.

:D The sticker that you saw on the firewall is the emblem of my Car Club, but until I finish my project I'm just a prospect :D.

I also can not wait to work on the interiors because it means that I'm almost done :)

Thank you very much to all !!!

Great job! You are motivating me to get back to work on my 52. I've been waiting until my son was old enough to help with the project. While you've been working on a classic chevy truck in Rome, I have been building an ancient Roman truck over here in the states.

He was asking if I used to drag race at New England Raceway. There must have been someone who used that name for their team or for their car.

So far it is all show, and no go, but it does have handmade spoke rims and hubcaps.
Even when it is finished it will only have two mulepower. The "engine" in the back is a much older type of catapult. To be a carroballista like the ones seen on Trajan's Column (in Roma) it should have iron frames for the torsion springs and be 30-40% more powerful.
