Has anyone out there ever pulled the steering box out of a 1953 Ford Customline (that is with the engine still in the car)?

My old rat not only has alot of slop in the steering wheel but gets very floatie when you hit a bump in the road. I'm guessing it's either (or both)the front king pins and the steering box.

    Any suggestions?

    Regards...

Leave the tires on the ground and have someone rock the steering wheel slightly while you look at each joint, tie rod end and steering box lower bushing.

you should be able to easily spot any play in any part.
