Hey, I'm wondering if anyone can describe to me or maybe send me some pics of what the '53 Crestline's windshield washer setup consists of and exactly how/where it's supposed mount/hang under the hood please? I notice the "****on" mounted on the floor on the driver's-side floor in the car, about eight inches up above the bright switch for the headlights...and I see the goofy valve or whatever you want to call it that is mounted on the inside of the driver's-side fender well(opposite that little ****on on the inside), which has a hose connected to it...but the OTHER end of that hose doesn't connect to a darned thing and I'm wondering what the rest of the guts of that thing is supposed to be so it'll work. Thanks!!! Mark
Ford used the same setup with foot operated mechanical pump well into the '60s on Falcons, Comets, Mustangs, and Fairlanes, so it shouldn't be hard to find an intact system to either replace yours or see how yours should go together.
The hose off the firewall mount unit goes to the bag located on the drivers side inner fender panel. Then a line goes from the bag to the spray nozzle located on the hood. At least that is how my 54 is mounted. Repair parts for the pedal/valve ***embly on the firewall are available. I got mine fron Concour Parts.
