Picked up a 53 Hudson jet, runs and drives! Just plan on doing some little things and driving the hell out of it. Flat head straight 6 with 3 on the tree and overdrive.

I like it just the way it is, cool old car. Great patina. Like you said, drive the hell out of it and have fun. It will give you lots of things to fix as you go, that's 1/2 the fun.

I like those Jets. Driving them is most rewarding of all. I also have a 53 coupe. Mine does not have OD. Wish it did. Drive Hell out of it. LHud

Great looking car.:) We went to look at a guy's collection up here as he said he had a HenryJ but it was a Hudson Jet(about 4500$ CDN). All original and in great shape, could clean it up and drive it. We passed on it but he had a couple of dozen cars inside and out. He died about a year ago and his family are selling off the cars.

  9. ^^^ive seen their website that old guy that passed had stuff collected over a couple decades. it seemed I got a good deal compared to their pricing, less than half

You may have a "Super jet"! From what I remember, the plane old jet has no rear vent windows. I have a 53 superjet with dual range hydramatic. It runs fine, but the interior is shot and it needs windshield replaced. Brakes need repair too. But that thing skoots pretty good with the hydramatic 1st gear. Retirement can't come too soon. I will then restore mine.
In your case, look at the ID on the passenger door front plate. If it has a "C" in the numbers you have a jet, if D then super jet.

  11. Man that would be killer if it was! I'll have to check it out, I do love those rear wings along with the "rain gutters" or whatever they are above the window. Check out rockauto.com they have a bunch of stuff for these cars super cheap. I got cap rotor, plugs, resistor, service manual, rad cap, starter and generator brushes for 100 bucks, so worth it. Ebay has brake cylinder rebuild kits for like 10 bucks.
Throw up a picture let's see her!

No, today it is a rainy 43*. Our weather is about the same as Northern NY. The west coast is like Washington state. You don't say where you are?

  21. I personally have no idea, that would be killer but Google seems to think it was the 49 olds 88, the Hudson hornet is a close second though

Car wasn't charging when I bought it so took a crack at it with some new bushes and steel wool on all the contact points

Nothing like crust and exposed wires to prevent it from charging

Neat little car, Dont think I ever recall seeing one but yes the 52 to 54 ford was the first thing I thought of as well, but the little hudson seems to be a miniature version of them, I notice the dash also has a old ford vibe to it as well.

Hudson Jet was a pretty cool car. They were Hudson's answer to the Nash Rambler, Kaiser Henry J, Willys Aero and the new compact Dodge and Plymouths. Since they used the engine from the larger Pacemaker they were quite powerful for their size, and more luxuriously equipped than their rivals.

They didn't stay in production long because Hudson merged with Nash to form American Motors, and they dropped the Jet in favor of the Rambler.

  27. And yeah the jet led to millions in lost profit because people didn't like them and weren't buying and ultimately they merged with Nash
