hi guys, just bought my self a 53 olds, is in pretty good shape. for now im replacing a few things but it will be my daily driver.

some of the wires look pretty bad and i wanted to replace them. i got thru the internet a wire diagram for my particular car but it doesnt have the gauge size. are they all the same size or is there somewhere in the internet without buying a manual where i can find it.

theres plenty info on chevys and diagramas showing wire sizes for nothing for olds

any help would greatly be apreciated.

    thnks

  2. If you are replacing the wires just replace them with the same gauge wire.

Most of the wire on a 12V car will be 18-16 gauge, but on a 6V car it will be heavier.

In 1953 Olds went to 12V. So 18-16 gauge is what you need.

  4. I would imagine that any wiring guide for a 6 volt or 12 volt Chevrolet ( 55, 56, 57 and so on) would work as a good guide as to wire gauge.
