my car is daily driven and pooped out on me today. i heard this whine while i was driving and after getting home, when i went to drive it the next day the clutch pedal seemed a bit squishy. it would let me put it in all gears without the clutch depressed and when the clutch was down there was a grinding noise. i put it in first and slowly took my foot off the clutch and about halfway up it stared to inch forward but that was about it. i shut it off and haven't touched it yet cause im scared to see whats wrong. one of my buds in my car club said it was a pilot bushing and the other said it was the throwout bearing or a bent fork. any ideas on what the problem is would be greatly appreciated and where i could get th parts new or used. btw, its the flat 6 with the flat six 3 speed behind it. i have no idea the name of this particular tranny so im at a dead standstill. Please help! i know someone out there that has more knowledge than my young ass could help. thanks.
Since you're going to take it apart to inspect, a throw out and pilot bearing will be good to have anyway, it doesn't sound like the fork is the culprit, more like the pressure plate snapped a finger or 2.
[ A clutch is a clutch is a clutch. a transmission (in anything but an old Ford) is a transmission is a transmission. Remove the transmission, look at the clutch and remove if necessary.
