So I'm needin' a set of coil springs for the front of my '54 Chevy wagon and a local fella has a set from his '53 Pontiac available. Same thing? I don't see why GM would have made them any different dimensionally. Maybe the spring rate isn't quite the same, but I'm going to cut on them anyway. Anybody know?

And as long as we're on the subject, does flipping the uprights work on these cars? And when I say work, I mean safely with out throwing the geometry all out of whack.

Flippin the uprights wont work on these cars. You have a 54 so they are already about an inch lower than a 49-52 uprights. Unfortunatly if you want to drop it more via uprights you have to get some from Buffalo Enterprises or Fatman. They will give you another inch or so drop.

As far as the Pontiac springs, I think that they would be alot firmer, even if they are the same size. I could be wrong, but it seems the Pontiac would be heavier than the Chevy.

My buddy got a set of 3 inch lowering springs made from Jamco for his 54. I dont know how expensive they are, but they ride REAL nice.

not sure if they will work because you have take in considertation that a 53 poncho has a very heavy straight 8 in it!! and the suspension is different from a chevy to a pontiac. not by much but they are different.

I'm looking to bag this thing in the future, so I don't want to spend more than I have to on parts that will be coming back out. As long as the springs fit, firmer is fine. Maybe even better since I'll be cutting on 'em.
