I have a question, and I'm deadly serious here ...

In your initial message, did you manually capitalize every word, or did your computer somehow do it for you?

    It's really fucking weird.

how about a ford in a ford. i don't like that people put chevy motors in ford becuase people give those that have ford motors in a chevy crap. yes chevy is cheaper and easier i know, but a chevy in a ford is like having ganesh on my christmas wrapping paper.

i have nothing against the chopping and welding only if it is a total piece that isn't able to be a good looking car. IE: tons of rust and rott, not a single straight panel, etc...

    keep the classics classic

Insisting on a Ford in a Ford is by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

VonMoldy,I went to the Johnson Motors get together in Pasadena a few weeks ago. This clean little Ford was parked in a side street. I don't know anything about it other than it looked really good to me.

i do love slammed shitboxes. but i love customs, restorations, and just cars in general. i can apreciate any kind of classic, any way its done.everyones taste in the way a car should or shouldnt be built is different. i restore classic cars for a living and been doin it along time. sometimes i just want to do something that doesnt have a rule book or manual. its like banging the same woman the rest of your life......sometimes you need to look at another menu.
so believe me, i understand why i get shit on this board. but hey, try restoring a car to its exact way it came off the showroom floor 50,60 years ago everyday and tell me you wouldnt want to just hack one up.

I've got some potato sacks you can use for your tweed interior - that'll match your billet tubbed rear. Should complete the 80's theme you're going for.:D

Each to their own man, I'm building mine to a style that I like, but eventhough there might be a few opinionated guys on this site I think they all are singing the same song.

    Good luck selling it:eek:

i figured out what they did to this car. they sectioned it across the rear window about 5 inches or so. if you notice that the rear driver window is smaller. man thats baaaaaddd assssss! it makes the car look longer.

  18. Posting opinions is a waste of time for the most part.

I will point out that if you're not gonna slide a convert frame under it or build some serious reinforcement you're gonna end up with a Flexi-flyer.

Shoeboes are defined as 49-51 Fords.

Can you post pics of your engine with the headers? Which ones did you use and how is the clearence to the steering box? I have a 351w in mine as well with the stock manifolds and there is no room for my pinkey finger to fit in between them.

Also, is your 351w hopped up? How is it for motivation down the road? I have yet to stretch the legs on mine as I am in sand and fill mode then paint...

A couple years of work and hopefully will be driving it in 3 or so weeks.

How much did you want for it when you couldn't sell it?

Looks like a decent start for most people.

This thread is full of opinions (some good and some bad) - I agree with the majority that you shouldn't cut it up...but if that is what you want to do and have your mid set on cutting off the roof - then go for it....

but welding the doors shut rarely ever looks good on anything (unless you are making a 4-dr into a 2-dr like Dave Para's "Jurkery" (Glassguy here on the board)

I also kinda like the Roundy Round car idea posted by FiddyFour - that would be different from everyone else and interesting as well -

one of the ideas floating around in my head is that i want to get a 4 door shoe box chop it. weld up the passenger door on the drivers side. then suicide the rear door on the passengers side. thought it might be kinda neat.

if you plan on driving it, welding the doors shut is stoopid.

i wouldnt weld the doors shut if i wanted to drive it,but that's just me.personally, guys,i think EVERYONE (including myself) need to cut out the drama.everyone on here has said something about some idiot who ruined a nice car.but how many of you have actually walked up to the owner and called him a retard TO HIS FACE?especially if the guy was nice enough to talk to you about his car and ask for your input?c'mon.most of those guys couldnt even tell you what the SHOP did to their car let alone do it themselves.this kid's tryin to do somethin himself and you guys should respect that.whether you think he has taste or not, sorry dudes,it's not your car.plenty of guys have been takin cars and either makin em great or ruinin em.that's also part of the learning process, isnt it?we're all CAR GUYS,not "trad cars only" or "trad cars i LIKE" guys..he could mess it up or he could make it AWESOME.as long as he's happy with it that's all that matters.let's try to act more like BROTHERS cuz that's what we ARE.now i'm gonna get off my soap box and let Ryan close this thread if he wants.you might not like what i have to say,but it's all i have to say.i think like or not everyone here should treat each other with RESPECT,whether you're a pro builder who's been on HAMB since day one or some kid off the street.good luck with the car, man!have fun with it!

I agree that sometimes we can be dorks and rag on someone with a different opinion but if he wasnt looking for advice/opinion what was the point of the original post?

You still didn't answer the question of whether you manually capitalized every word in your message. How can we move on to bigger issues like whether to weld your doors shut when we haven't answered the basics? [IMG]

goddammit this is the kind of shit i'm talking about..that's right..tell the guy to step away from his own car like he's a moron.dude,he's said he cant sell it and he doesnt want it the way it is so he's gonna CUSTOMIZE it to how HE wants it.yes,he wanted advice and opinions but i doubt he wanted to be verbally assaulted and told he's an idiot.just cuz you guys dont like what he's wanting to do is no reason to be rude or disrespectful.just tell him you dont like how it looks and that you wouldnt do it and move on.this isnt a democracy thing where the most votes go.he is gonna do whatever he feels like doing,HAMB approved or not.being a dick to him and making him not want to post on here again isnt going to keep him from doing what he wants to to this car so i dont know WHAT you guys think you're going to accomplish by insulting him.

i agree with you 100% putting him down is not productive or helpful in the slightest, its not what i would do with the car but that doesnt make me better than him, we just have different tastes. but since your going to cut the top off anyway you might as well do as others have said and chop the top first, you can always cut it back off. heres a few shots of my old 53 ford that i bought from Manny Cisnero and just sold last year.
