ok, so i'm going to ask this and feel kinda dumb, but before you say anying, i'm still really new at this, and learning my way around things so anyway...

I'm pulling off the p***enger side front fender on a 54 buick special. now i guess my real question is just how do i go about ACTUALLY pulling it off? so i've removed all the screws and i'm 100% sure i didn't miss any, so just how do i pull the fender from the body?

I'm really just having trouble at the top rear part of the fender (where it meets the gl*** and door) It's really not giving, and i didn't want to mess anything up by trying to force it, so what should I be doing? does it slide off, or does it lift up and pull off? obviously this is my first one, so i'm not sure what i should be feeling for... I'm sure this is an easy question, i've just never done it before...

There is prolly another bolt or 2 that you are missing. Take off the windshield moulding and maybe the cowl moulding. Is it loose on the bottom? there might be a bolt down there also. I'll bet that you are missing at least one. Fenders normally are not that hard to budge if you got all of the bolts out.

On the other hand the fenders on those old cars are very sturdy, you can't really break anything, maybe bend something a little but not break it.

Open the door and look in the jamb or in the iside of the fender with the door open.Got to have 1 or 2 left. They usually just come off with all the bolts removed.

  4. If you can find a shop manual for your car, they will sometimes help in situations like this. But I think someone should come on here and let you know what you have missed. One good idea is to change your ***le of your post to 54 Buick Special question. It would attract the guys you are looking to talk to. Pat.

There may be some rubber stripping in the wheel well that is fused to the fender. My brothers 50 ford had something like that and it kinda felt like there was something still bolted down but it was just cause the fender had never been taken off...ever. Maybe this helps.
