This is my first post on this fun little project; I am installing a S.Co.T blower on my 235 in my 1954 3600 short-bed dually Chevy. Yes, it's a dually that my dad bought originally in 1954, so it's a short-bed 3600 and with dual rear wheels. So, this is the start of the build, and I will add to it as it progresses. If you like what you see, please don't hesitate to ask questions. If you don't, I'm not offended; feel free to move on. The pictures are of the blower, along with the Stromberg 97s mounted for a mock-up. The intake is hanging at the machine shop, getting some fine details taken care of. Once I get it back, I will put it on display.
Way cool, I can´t wait to learn what kind of power improvement that blower will make on the 235. Have you already decided how much boost you are going to make? A blown stovebolt might aswell be on the on topic forum I guess, there´s nothing off topic about it as far as I can tell, right? I built a 261 for my ex 52 3600, with an 848 head and a little tweaking. It´has got a 3.36 Malibu rearend in it and runs far better than it should , it is pretty zippy. A friend owns it now. I need to tell him about your build!
watching with interest.ive allways had a fascination with supercharged motors tried to buy a corrado G60 20 plus years ago but couldnt find a clean enough car. vw corrado s are fun cars.drove my brothers kompressor merc that was ok but also drove a magnusen supercharged LS2 SSR.that was quick.
No Idea on the power it will make but I believe we will see roughly 10lbs of boost...should wake the little 6er right on up!
Why do the wheels pull it off topic...it is actually a 3/4 ton pick up and the only reason the wheels are different is that the original split rims are no longer serviced any where .... I guess to dangerous?
the main board focuses on 1965 and older cars built in the styles popular in 1965 and before. there were no wheels like yours in 1965 and the typical hot rod pickups were 1/2 tons. you can read the rules for posting on the site here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-h-a-m-b-rules-guidelines.44274/
Pretty unusual pick-up..... Blowers are always cool. Wonder how it would look with regular short bed and lose the flat bed with stakes ?! Slammed of course.......withOUT yhe hood....rowdy cam and noisy exhaust headers (or NO exhaust) 6sally6
So, now that its here in the off top section, back it out of the garage and lets see some good pictures of the truck! The blower on the 235 might be fun, if it stays together. 10lbs of boost seems like a lot of boost for a 235.
I will get some better pictures of the pickup...my engine builder says 10lbs should be fine and if not, he will be rebuilding it!
The key reason for the flat bed was because that is how my dad ordered the pickup in 54, so...I built a new bed and that is how it has been ever since.
