My neighbor started ajusting my valves after fucking up my engine decided it was time to go. I tried several different ways of ajusting them and engine still runs like crap.It has a 235 automatic/ power sludge and I assume hydraulic lifters being a 54.I was in the misdt of installing new carbs on my duals which compounds the problem because I don't know when It's running like shit from one or the other!
Three IF s. IF it's for sure a 235 automatic/ power sludge and IF somebody hasn't put solid lifters in it, and IF it's not running so bad it won't idle, begin by (with it idling) back off the adjustment until it starts clicking loud, then slowly tighten it back until it stops clicking, then another half turn. Do it one rocker at a time. If it still runs shitty, it ain't the valve adjustment........unless................Oh yea, 4th IF. If it runs worst when you go back down to where it stops clicking and just beyond, then IF number two prolly applies! Then of course, I'd do all this after my neighbor went home.
