Can I convert my manual steering setup to power steering by replacing it with an original power steering box and still have room for my sbc and run a sbc pump? noticed one on ebay and i know i can find one of em around here, tons of these cars in a local junkyard (about 30). Just a thought because my future wife would like to drive it and i dont know how it would be for her to drive it with manual steering. are these cars really that hard to steering with manual steering? thanks!

Those '53-'54 power steering boxes are awfully bulky--I think that you'd run into clearance problems with a V8.

The original non-power steering was made for girls according to some of Chevy's ads from back then. a 17-18" steering wheel combined with a steering box that's about 94 turns lock-to-lock IS power steering. 'Specially if you run skinny bias plys.
