54 chevy rear end converison

    hay ya'll don't know if i'm doing this right, like 2 say thanx for lett'n me n ya'll group. gonna put a 78 camaro rear end in my 54 chevy 210 do i just use the rear end or springs &all ,thankx ya'll, oh yea if i'm not ask'n the questions in the right place and all , let me know because i'm not to good with computers either. thanx again KILLER GREEN

    Yeah ditch the stock springs they are to narrow.

    do i use the mounting brackets from the camaro or use the stock one's or u gotta buy something, thanx for your help

    I used the Chassis Engineering kit to put a 68 camaro rear under my 51 Chev. After grinding out the rivets everything bolted back in and I just had to drill 4 more holes to finish bolting the parts. They also have a crossmember for the shocks that also will bolt in. Hope this helps. Welcome aboard too :D

    Pretty sure you can buy a kit Mabey from chevsofthe40's

    But you could fairly easily modify the stock mounts and make up some shackles.

    You can bolt the Camaro rear onto the stock springs. If you want to go the low buck route all you have to do is drill a new hole for the spring bolt 1-1/2" forward from the center on the Camaro spring pad. Pinion angle is not going to be right as is. I removed the spring pads, rotated the rear to get the correct angle then welded the sping pads back on. Same could be done with some wedge shims.
