I got a 1954 chevy belair and I want to make it a simple custom... for now. I want to use the stock rearend with a 4-link, stock IFS, all on air ride bags, and the stock polwerglide, But I want V8. It has the stock I6 (not running) but I want the v8 rummble. How easy is it to bolt the powerglide to a SBC, or what other v8s' can I run? what issues will I have with the stock IFS if I drop a V8? I know I can just drop a th-350 a 10bolt and a Mustang II IFS and all that good stuff, but I'm trying to simplify my project and I want to get it on the road as soon as possible with out spending too much $ . So does this sound familiar to anybody? Thanks

  2. I know the stock 235 used an adapter plate to fit it to the cast 'glide. I'm not sure if the V-8 used an adapter or not. My suggestion, put the V-8 in (if that's what you want) use an alluminum 'glide, or a TH350/400/700R4, and swap out the torque tube diff. before you go through the trouble of bagging it.
The SBC will fit fine. You'll need to remove or clearence the firewall braces. Otherwise, it's pretty straight forward.
