54 chop top

    What is the going rate for a shop to chop the top on a 54 chevrolet?

    Free, if you do it yourself!

    I just did my 53 over the weekend (finally!). It's all tacked in place and I didn't need any help. Unfortunatley, I can't weld a nice bead to save my life so I'm going to practice a lot before I get into finishing it all up (or end up paying someone in beer!).

    Seriously though, depending on what you look you are going for (I dropped it 4-1/2" up front, leaned the pillars and have a nice Ford rear window I'm dropping in) I can truly say I've taken on harder projects. It's like anything else, you can do it yourself and figure it out along the way or pay someone else to endure the little headaches.

    Wow, having just read that thread, I think I've found my nirvana. Exactly why I wanted to be here in the first place. I'll search out the pickup roof chops and at some point get the disc cutter fired up.
