Hi, friends. I have a 54 Ford Crestline Vic. The car has been converted over to 12 v by the previous owner. I am having a prob with the temp gauge. It will rest on hot and come down to the cold side once started up BUT then it just continues to ride back up to the hot zone as if overheating but the car is not running hot. Previous owner DID NOT have any type of volt reducer at the gauge. I have a 12 v temp sending unit in currently and have installed a good volt reducer to 6 v but still have same prob. My mechanic installed it for me. Any suggestions? Might the gauge be shot due to receiving 12 v for who knows how long? Thanks for any help! ~ Rob

Might try a different sending unit. Gauge is still OK or it wouldn't work at all.

All 12v gauges are really 6v gauges with a regulator. You need to install a 6v regulator as the voltage source to your fuel and temp gauges.
