I am changing the 6 cylinder in my 54 Customline to a 239 v-8. Is there any difference in the clutch release mechanism for the 3 speed ******?

I don't see any reference to a different part in the repair manual but when the z-bar is mounted to the frame it does not line up with the pivot on the block.

Look down on the frame there may be tapped holes to relocate it as the 6's and 8's used the same frame. The Ford Parts Manual would show if the Z-bar part numbers are different,if you don't have the Ford Parts Manual send Retro Jim a pm He has them on CD Rom for around $10 shipped.

I understand what you are asking and I think they are different but may be wrong .
Can I make one suggestion , before you spend your money to install that engine , you should think about getting a 292 Y block instead . the parts are easier to find plus you can get many upgrades cheaper than the 239 . Now if you are wanting period correct then the 239 will work .
Yes I have a disc for the computer that is like the parts spread sheet that you see at the auto parts stores . It cover everything that you will need and if you take something apart and can't remember hot to get it back together , then this will help you out a lot . Just send me a PM and I will answer any questions you might have .

The equalizer bar should be same but I think the pivot mount on the engine where the equalizer hooks up is different between the 6 and V8.

And yes, what Jim & others above said - you should get a parts book, it provides specific application by year, model, engine, etc. Service Manual illustrations usually refer to a "typical" application and often don't differentiate between engines, transmissions, etc, especially when R&R or adjustments are similar for different models.
