54 master cylinder rebuild

im rebuilding the master cylinder on my 54 belair. Do the rubber cups inside face same direction or oppose each other?

im not sure the last owner didnt rebuild it...incorrectly.

The same way ,both away from the end they go in.

 

thanks!...im up and stopping now. First time in a long time i can stop without using ebrake!!...now....on to next part of this project.
