I have seen Koolmercuryman refer to having Granada spindles on his 54 Merc. I was wondering what mods it took to use them with stock upper and lower Aframes.

The Granada spindles and disc brakes will work fine with your stock upper and lower A-Arms, you will have to ream the lower ball joint holes in the Granada spindles to fit your lower ball joints. this can be done by your local machine shop for around $40. If you want your car to sit very low in the front you will have to ream these holes very little, if you want your car to sit close to stock height you will have to ream the lower holes so the spindle sits all the way down on the ball joint like the stock spindle. New brake hoses will also be needed.

Hi, My name is Dave and I am the owner of Drop'em & Stop'em. I can perform machine work necessary to use your stock ball joints for either 1 1/2" or 2 1/2'' drop and also do the correct machine work to use your stock tie rods. Send me a p.m. daverace@sbcglobal.net

I have a set of Granada spindles. Do I absolutely have to ream out the lower ball joint?

dragon. Yes it doesn't fit right I have 3 sets on 3 cars and they work great. Be aware the stock rims center hole might not fit and the center hub should be turned down a little for stock 54 rims. Most after market or newer Ford rims do fit. Talk more to nascar dave. Gerry

When I did mine, I bought aftremarket new hubs. The OD is to big for the stock wheels. BUT, they are very thick. I had them turned to fit the stock wheels and very little has to be cut off. There is plenty of meat there. It costs very little.
