I'm needing a few part numbers for my 54. Looking for:
    rear axle bearings
    rear axle seals
    rear end gasket
    leaf spring bushings.

    thanks for any help.

Send Retro Jim a pm and pick up a copy of Ford Parts Manual CD from Him,it has all the part numbers for all Fords 1949-59 plus exploded views of every component of the car for the same year Fords.Best $12 you will ever spend on your project, that way you can Google the part numbers to find the best deals.

Thanks Jeff. I have purchased one of the cd's from Retro Jim. I guess I was trying to take the easier softer way out instead of researching it myself. I didn't realize Autozone had so many parts listed for the 54's. I found all the parts I was needing accept the leaf spring bushings at Autozone. And you get a $15 gift card for every $100 spent there. Sweet deal.

If nobody does it I can look 'em up for you when I get home from work tonite.

Right now I'm going off memory on the base #s, but see Questions (below):

I'm needing a few part numbers for my 54.

    Looking for:

rear axle bearings (***uming wheel brngs [base #1225], or do you mean the differential/pig/carrier bearings [numerous base #s]?)

    rear axle seals [base #1177]

rear end gasket (Differential [base #4035], or axle [base #1001] gaskets? Also if you pulled the pig, you'd likely also need a pinion seal [base #4676])

leaf spring bushings [if memory serves I think the base # is 5565 - have to check this one].

As long as you are in there I would change out the pinion bearing and seal.

Axle gaskets - (2 different gaskets listed): A8AZ-1001-A, and C1AZ-1001-A

    Wheel seals - 2 different sizes: 8A-1177-A (1 3/8" I.D.) and B7A-1177-A (1 1/2" I.D.)

Wheel Bearing - 8A-1225-A, seems I saw or heard that number is replaced with A9AZ-1225-A

    Differential gasket - 8A-4035-C

    Pinion Seal - 8A-4676

Spring bushings: A9AZ-5781-A (8 needed for front and rear of spring).

Word of advice, - double check the numbers in your parts book just to make sure I didn't screw up. I ***umed a standard sedan (not Police Car, station wagon or sedan delivery). The code for full size cars is "A" in the book.

raceron1120 thanks for the help. Next question is where do I go with these part numbers for parts? The Ford Dealership? Or cross reference them somewhere?
I did a restore on my 68 Camaro a few years ago and had the convenience buying just about all of the parts at the same location.

A good auto parts store should either be able to cross ref them, or simply look them up by application.

It's doubtful many of these items are still available from Ford but you might check.

A lot of the items you're needing are fairly common and should be easily sourced - Rock Auto, Mac's, Dennis Carpentar, to name a few.
