Hey guys so this is my 55 Chevy pu project I've been workin on for 5-6 years now had it all restored almost and now putting a 84 Chevy c10 with brand new 350 long block and rebuilt turbo 350 and suspension that came with the c 10 I have the cab on and front clip mocked up with a universal gas tank under the bed I will post some pics later today Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
My recollection of '55-'57 pickups is that they're narrower by comparison to the '76-'88. I've owned pickups from both series, and dismantled more than a few of all of them. If you just sit the body over on the later frame, the tires stick out too far and it looks like a cartoon truck. A very competent body man here in town did one that way, and I kept thinking of the Disney movie every time I saw it. Back in the eighties, I built a '57 with a Firebird front clip, nine inch and later engine/trans, and it drove like a new one. I went so far as to change out the rear springs and drilled and bolted on a set from a '76. It was a big improvement. I have a long wheel base '57 under the carport that I'm going to tackle in the future, and if there's some trick to narrowing the width, please, share it.
The front tires seam a little wide but after I get the ailment done i may just change wheels and hopefully brings the front in but that is latter down the line the rears seems perfect also the tires are kind of wide so ill will putting slimmer ones on ill keep posting when I can Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad

I have a 59' Apache on a 91' frame and running gear. It actually fits ok, but is about 1.5" wider per side than I would like. I am not lowering this one to the ground, and will be running narrower tires on the front, so I am not worried about it.
Me and my dad were looking at it and we are thinking the narrower tires with an off set will work I am going to get "smoothie" rims so it looks like the 50 s and the 84 off set is in so hopefully pushing the off set out will bring the rim in more right now I'm trying to get front clip lined up to mount transfer cooler and firing up the 350 for the first time Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
