Any one have experience with removing the black and chrome knobs off the dash items metal rods (shaft) from like the vent knob or headlight switch.I know how to remove the shaft from the headlight switch but wondering how the knobs are fastened to the shaft? Are they just pressed on or threaded .I see no set screws.

Molded on in my experience. Or pressed such that removing is likely to ruin it.

I do not think there is any way to remove them. However, if you did get them off, you might replace them with radion knobs. T-Bird suppliers have them.

No experience with t-birds, but I have pulled a few knobs off of headlight posts. I put the post in the vice, heat it with a propane torch while applying constant pressure on the knob. Sometimes they come off, sometimes they melt. If they come off, a little epoxy will put them back on.
