Gone through 2 used speedometers in my 56 Chevy in the last year. My cable is new and the odometer part still works fine. In both cases the speedo needle would start bouncing around and finally quit on me. The last one was nice and steady to about 60mph then at the higher speeds it would start bouncing. Does anyone know how to take the needle off the shaft and is there anywhere I can get just a new speedo mechanism to replace the bad one? I know I can find more used ones but may end up having a problem with them too.
