I'm getting a custom moon style gas tank made for my '59, & I need some measurements:

    A: Bed width (I.D.)
    B: Large planks, center-to-center
    C: Small planks, center-to-center
    D: Bed height

I'd do this myself, but my truck is in California, & I'm on the East Coast.

    Thanks in advance

Didn't Chevy start using that bed with the 54 models and continue it well into the 60's?

    I think so...'65?

Getting a 22 gal tank. The plank measurements are for the tank straps.

Here is that tank I drafted up. It looks a little busy/messy with all the markups, but I needed to make sure that all the tank straps + tank sump don't land on a bed strip, & also clear the cap area. Depending on how it comes out, I will either mount 3 straps or 4 straps - 2 straps going to the bed, & 1 or 2 going fwd

you have a picture, so it should be easy to figure out. 1x8s and 1x6s and 1/4" bolts between them. But I'll measure anyways.

The distance from the CL to the inner edge of the strip next to the green line 19.5"

so you want the straps to be right at 36" center to center, if you can

Thanks. I asked the guy making my tank to move in the filler 1" toward the center (prev orange lines, now black lines). That should give me enough adjustability on the strap location. I think the sump box (which measure 3" x 6") should clear the center bed strip - I need to cut out that spot

Also the frame is 34" wide, the bed mounting bolts are about 1" in from the outer edge of the frame.

oh...you don't have bed mounting bolts, do you?

Good eye - I still need to put those in, but I need to drill & bolt on the angle strips first (I had to break all the spot welds) & the boards need to be drilled

So in that pic, all the bolts are still loose. I'm going back out to CA next month & finish it & install the tank
