I know you mentioned moving on to getting a "hot rod" and basically leaving the Buick close to stock. Given the weird stuff they incorporated, I would look for an old factory type manual for the car and stay as close to stock as possible. They are heavy cars, but they drive luxuriously (Thanks spellcheck), so enjoy it for what it brings to the table. Its never going to be a hot rod without a lot of money being put into it.

Then shop around and see what hot rod you would actually enjoy driving, and test drive before buying. Go to some of the large automotive events and you will see lots of cars for sale that you can compare. Even if you don't buy one, you get more familiar with what you can get for an acceptable price. Someone may even offer to swap for the Buick.

I can't find my glasses, so can barely see. Got up at 4am and headed to San Diego and bought the Boogie Bird, a 63 Falcon legit SoCal gasser. Will need some work but it's mine. 350/350, 57 Olds rear, 3.90's, spool. Straight axle. Trailered it from San Diego to Buckeye AZ and drive from buckeye to Anthem. A good 50 miles. Drives straight, and like a old school gasser would drive but I like it. Engine is setback a few inches, firewall is recessed but plenty of leg room. Cage is a bitch to get around and get into at 53. But she's fun. Will start a new thread.

If this works this is my old 55 Buick Special that I stuck the engine and trans out of a 55 super sedan in back in 1966. I burned up the Dynaflo twice and blew the rear end once. That was with a stock engine.

Truth is I just don't see what you plan as being viable with a 322 and the Dynaflo. That trans was never noted for being strong and the torque drive pretty well means to get strength you have to swap transmisisons including buying a spendy trans adapter and then build a new rear suspension as the torque tube is half of the suspension on those cars.

That was a nice ride. And no, I am going to leave the Buick alone. The boogie bird though will be getting a make over. I am getting my 383 project engine back. Will drop that in....

Well there are reasons, lost my job so while I had financing secured I needed to move before the bank wanted new "pay stubs". But I have my federal pension. So I am good. And now have time to get shit sorted before it's 120F again.
