55 Caddy Trans leak ????

Hey guys and girls,

Got an issue with my 55 leaking oil from the extension housing seal.

Well the seal is coming out completley and dumping all the oil

When I remove the tail shaft the seal is stuck hard up in the end of the yolk.

The thing is air bagged so Im wondering if the rear axel travel on the rear leaf is pushing the tail shaft hard into the extension housing?????

Anyone else had this trouble.
Or any ideas?

 

my 56 olds with 4 inch blocks had the same problem I took 3/8 of inch off the yolk and it seemed to solve the problem

 

I had a similar problem with mine from axle wrap. It chewed the seal all to hell and poured when ever parked down hill

Thought this may be the case. 3/8" of the yolk, or you get the shaft cut down?
