on my 55 chevy g***er project I cut off the steering shaft and use a coupling to adapt box to double d shaft to my steering column. I filled box with john deer corn head grease and car steers great but I noticed pile of grease on frame where it is coming out of box on top where shaft goes in. could it be over filled or I'm I missing something from removing stock steering column that used to go all the way down attaching to steering box. or is there a seal up top that I can replace? Thanks
thanks Johnny Gee! Is that an actual break down of tri 5 manual box? looks like it will be easy to change. any one know where I can get that seal without buying whole rebuild kit?
It's a lot of work to just change that seal. You've more than likely as you stated over filled it and when the ball nut run's toward the seal the grease is forced out. You say it works fine. If your sector shaft isn't leaking just run it as is. The grease up top will stop being pushed out soon enough.

I think your right it may be pushing it out because its over filled, ill keep an eye on it , thanks for the help and part# !!
